AT least five farmers were brutally murdered by suspected Boko Haram terrorists in Gwoza local government area of southern part of Borno State on Saturday.
News Point Nigeria gathered that the terrorists attacked farmers while working on their farms near the remote village of Ngoshe in Gwoza LGA of the state.
According to a local who spoke to this newspaper the five farmers were found in the pool of blood as their attackers slit their throats.
“Five precious lives were cut short, continued,: A dark cloud has once again fallen on Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
“By mid-morning on Saturday, while innocent farmers were simply tilling their land in search of daily sustenance, suspected Boko Haram insurgents descended upon them in cold blood and wasted their lives,” he said.
A security source said the victims have been buried according to Islamic rite.
“May the Almighty forgive their shortcomings, grant them eternal rest, and shield us all from the hands of those who take innocent lives. Ameen.” the source said.
However, at least 12 Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters have been killed during “long-range offensive commando operations” by troops of Operation Hadin Kai in Borno State.
The operation, backed by intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) of the air component command, was conducted from 29 to 30 August, a military source claimed.
Troops cleared Tamsu Ngamdu, Dalakaleri, and Gaza of terrorist activities, and later engaged and neutralized 12 insurgents in a heavy gun duel at a suspected terrorist location in Loskori Kura in Borno State.
The source said, “Troops recovered 8 AK-47 rifles and 8 AK-47 rifle magazines fully loaded with 7.62mm rounds of ammunition.
An assorted cache of drugs and medical supplies used by the terrorists were also recovered by the resilient and dogged troops.” military source claimed.
