THE Kogi State Government has confirmed that a rescued kidnap victim has safely delivered twin girls at the state’s Internally Displaced Persons camp.
News Point Nigeria reports that the disclosure was made on Monday by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, who said the identity of the mother was being withheld for security reasons.
According to him, Governor Usman Ododo has directed immediate medical attention for the mother and her newborns.
“Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has directed the State Security Adviser and the Commissioner for Health to immediately transfer the mother and her newborn babies to the State Specialist Hospital for comprehensive medical attention and postnatal care.
“He assured that both the mother and the twin girls are in good condition,” Fanwo stated.
The state government recalled that the IDP camp was established as a temporary rehabilitation centre where rescued victims of kidnapping receive care, psychosocial support and other assistance before being reunited with their families.
It added that following sustained security operations across the state, the number of rescued victims at the camp has continued to increase.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare, rehabilitation and reintegration of rescued victims, while commending security agencies for what it described as ongoing successes in the fight against criminality in the state.
