THE Zamfara State First Lady, Hurriya Dauda Lawal, on Thursday hosted members of the Northern Governors’ Spouses’ Forum in Gusau, where they resolved to sustain borehole drilling projects to address water challenges in rural communities.
The resolution was contained in a communiqué sent to News Point Nigeria at the end of the forum’s quarterly meeting held at the Zamfara State Government House.
The communiqué was signed by Asmau Mohammed Inuwa and the forum’s secretary, Lami Fintiri.
The meeting was chaired by Asma’u Inuwa Yahaya and brought together spouses of governors from across the northern states to deliberate on key issues affecting the region.
According to the communiqué, the forum reviewed ongoing activities, assessed progress made and discussed future initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of women, children and other vulnerable groups.
“After thorough and productive deliberations, the forum resolved to continue the borehole drilling project in each state as part of efforts to address water supply challenges,” the communiqué said.
It added that the forum also agreed to introduce a new project in 2026 and to observe the International Charity Day annually on September 5.
The forum further resolved to hold its next meeting in four months.
The spouses reaffirmed their commitment to driving positive change and improving the quality of life across the northern region.
“Members reaffirmed their collective commitment to working together in unity and purpose for the advancement of the region,” the communiqué added.
