THE management of Azman Air, under the leadership of Alhaji Faisal Abdulmunaf has revealed that it will launch additional aircraft to its fleet for 2023 Umrah and Hajj operations. THE National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has threatened to embark on a mass protest over what it called outrageous hike in school fees by the Universities for both new and returning students. THE Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted dust haze weather condition from Friday to Sunday across the country. THE Kano state office of the Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, NMDPRA, has sealed 14 filling stations for selling Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, otherwise known as petroleum at higher prices. KANO State Police Command in Kano State says a couple has been found dead on its matrimonial bed in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area (LGA) of the state, believed to have died of suffocation from charcoal fumes. THE Federal Government has said that it will stop the payment of fuel subsidy by the end of June 2023. The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed, disclosed this during the public presentation of the 2023 Federal Government budget. Mrs Zainab disclosed that in the 2023 fiscal period, the government has made provisions of N3. 36trillion naira for fuel subsidy payment to cover the first six months of this year. 2022 witnessed a devastating decline in journalists’ safety, as 66 journalists and media workers worldwide were killed in connection with their profession, according to International Press Institute (IPI) data. This figure marks a steep increase from the total of 45 journalists killed in 2021. Spiraling attacks against journalists in Mexico as well as Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine were leading factors behind the rise in journalist killings. Fourteen journalists were killed in Mexico in 2022, the deadliest year for the country’s media since 2017.
