VICE-PRESIDENT Kashim Shettima has called on the family of the late elder statesman and business icon, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, to remain united and uphold the legacy of integrity, humility, and philanthropy that defined the life of their patriarch.
Speaking during a condolence visit to the Dantata family in Kano on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Shettima described the late industrialist as a “pillar of the nation” whose passing is a monumental loss not just to his family but to Nigeria as a whole.
“The death of Alhaji Aminu Dantata is not a loss to his family alone — it is a loss to the entire country.
He was a national treasure, a man whose life was a blessing to humanity,” the Vice President said.
Shettima urged the family to remain united and not allow material wealth to sow division among them.
“The owner of the wealth has departed. That alone should remind us all that nothing in this world lasts forever,” he cautioned.
He called on the Dantata family to preserve the name and values associated with their late patriarch, stressing that Alhaji Aminu Dantata was widely known for his honesty, generosity, and unwavering commitment to community development.
“Spare the name of Dantata with the integrity it carries. Uphold his legacy so that his memory continues to live not just within your family, but across the country and beyond,” Shettima added.
The Vice President’s visit was part of a series of high-level condolence messages pouring in following the passing of Alhaji Aminu Dantata, who died at the age of 94 in Abu Dhabi and was buried in the holy city of Madina, Saudi Arabia.
