THE remaining abducted school children in Niger State have regained their freedom from their abductors.
The Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago, will receive them at the government house on Monday.
Terrorists abducted 315 school children from St Mary’s Private Catholic Primary and Secondary School Papiri in Agwara Local Government Area on November 21, 2025.
While 50 of the school children of the abducted children escaped from the terrorists’ den two days later and returned to their parents, 100 of the school children regained their freedom on December 8, two weeks later.
Exactly 13 days after the 100 school children were freed, PUNCH Online can confirm that the remaining 165 school children, including teachers, have also regained their freedom.
The spokesman of the Niger State Police Command, Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the release of the abducted school children in a conversation with News Point Nigeria.
He could not confirm the actual number of those freed.
“I can confirm that the school children have been released, but I can not give further details. I will keep you updated,” Abiodun said.
The chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Bulus Yohanna, also confirmed the release of the school children.
In a telephone chat with his media aide, Daniel Atori, the Bishop confirmed the release of the school children.
He could not confirm the actual number of the released abductees but said the Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago, will receive them on Monday.
“The Bishop of Kontagora Diocese and Proprietor of the school, Most Rev. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, said that Governor Umaru Bago called him a few minutes ago to confirm the release of the children and teachers.
“However, the figure was not mentioned as they are expected in Minna tomorrow (Monday) and to be received by the Governor in the government house,” he said.
