THE Wold Peace President of the International Association Of World Peace Advocates IAWPA Amb Per Stafsen has declared the year 2024 as a year to celebrate women globally for their achievements and contributions to the promotion of global peace and stability.
Amb. Stafsen from the Kingdom of Denmark also stressed the need for women to be given more roles and responsibilities to play in their various countries and the United Nations.
In his new year message to all peace lovers and Eminent Peace Ambassadors, he stressed the need for all regional and country Directors to harness programmes that will promote peaceful living among states and individuals not minding their religious or ethnic affiliations.
Amb. Per Stafsen’s new year message also hailed the performance of the association’s Director of African Affairs Amb John Metchie for the pivotal role he played in promoting the association’s activities in the African continent.
“We had lots of challenges within the African continent but it is important that the noble role of our Director of African Affairs Amb John Metchie must be commended. His role in seeking for peace in Niger republic during the military coup is commendable.
“This is as well as other positive interventions the African Directorate has carried out. The well documented attendance of two UN events in Nairobi, Kenya is also a very commendable feat for our association in Africa ”
While urging other regional Directors to build on the achievements of the association in Africa, he also mandated all Eminent Peace Ambassadors to show commitment to the ideals of the association by carrying out peace advocacy projects which will justify their appointments as Eminent Peace Ambassadors of the association.
While reiterating the focus of the association for the year 2024, Amb. Per Stafsen hailed women in various positions of authority and urged them to show reason why they should get better recognition.
