KANO State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has distributed plot-of-land title documents to his aides, saying the initiative is aimed at reducing the housing deficit, creating wealth for families and laying a solid foundation for a better future.
News Point Nigeria reports that the beneficiaries include Senior Special Assistants (SSAs), Senior Special Reporters (SSRs), Special Assistants (SAs), Special Reporters (SRs) and Personal Assistants (PAs), according to a statement issued on Saturday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad.
Speaking at the Coronation Hall of the Government House in Kano during the distribution of the title documents under the supervision of the Ministry of Land and Physical Planning, Governor Yusuf described the allocation of plots in a government layout as a significant milestone for the beneficiaries.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ibrahim, the governor said the programme was designed to extend beyond land allocation by promoting home ownership and economic empowerment.
“This programme is not simply about the allocation of plots of land; it is about reducing the housing deficit, empowering our people through property ownership, creating wealth for families, and providing young people, women, and vulnerable groups with a solid foundation upon which they can build a better future,” Yusuf said.
The governor added that his administration believes leadership is measured not by the promises it makes but by the promises it fulfils, stressing that the distribution of the plots was a demonstration of the government’s commitment to honouring its pledge to the beneficiaries.
Governor Yusuf also commended the beneficiaries for their unwavering support from the campaign period to the present administration.
He urged them to see themselves as ambassadors of the government by continuing to enlighten members of the public on the policies, programmes and projects being executed under the Abba Gida-Gida administration.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning, Abduljabar Umar, said the number of plots allocated under the Yusuf administration had surpassed those distributed during the administrations of former governors Rabiu Kwankwaso and Abdullahi Ganduje.
The commissioner advised the beneficiaries against selling their allocated plots, urging them instead to retain the properties for future use and long-term economic benefit.
