THE Kano State Fire Service has lost its spokesperson, Saminu Yusuf Abdullahi, who died in the early hours of Wednesday after a brief illness.
News Point Nigeria reports that the death was confirmed in a statement issued to newsmen in Kano by the Divisional Head of the Fire Service in Dambatta Local Government Area, PFS2 Muhammad Ibrahim-Nasiru.
According to the statement, Abdullahi’s funeral prayer was conducted at about 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
The deceased served as the spokesperson of the Kano State Fire Service, where he played a key role in communicating the activities and emergency operations of the service to members of the public.
The statement said Abdullahi was particularly known for providing timely information on fire incidents, prevention measures, emergency response operations and other activities aimed at protecting lives and property.
“His death is regarded as a significant loss to the Kano State Fire Service and the wider community, especially given his role in keeping the public informed during emergencies,” the statement said.
It added that his colleagues and other stakeholders were mourning his death while acknowledging his contributions to public safety and emergency communication.
Abdullahi’s death comes as a loss to the fire service’s public communication efforts, where he regularly served as a link between the emergency agency and the public during fire incidents and other emergencies.
