“We can confirm that an agreement in principle has been reached with Super Eagles players, captain Ahmed Musa MON, and Shehu Abdullahi to join up with us for the 2024/25 football season. It will be Musa’s third debut for the Sai Masu Gida, having first donned their colours in the 2009/10 season and scored 18 goals in 25 appearances, a record for the highest goals ever scored in one season that stood until November 2011, when Jude Aneke of Kaduna United F.C. set a new record of 20 goals.

After his foreign adventure that saw him lace boots for VVV-Venlo, CSKA Moscow, Leicester City, and Al Nassr, Musa retraced his steps to Kano Pillars in 2021 and featured in eight matches during the brief stint, upon which he returned to Europe to play for Turkish Super Lig outfits Fatih Karagümrük and Sivasspor, with whom he mutually severed ties in February.

Abdullahi, also 31, a defensive midfielder that can also function effectively as a defender, is in his second stint with the club, having started his professional career with them in 2012 and played there until 2014, when he took his trade overseas, donning the colours of Qadsia, União da Madeira, Anorthosis, Bursaspor, Omonia, and Levski Sofia.

Both players will be the cynosure of eyes in Katsina, where they will look to spice up the team’s season following a stuttering start that saw them muster four points in as many games, leaving them 14th on the log, eight points adrift of leaders Remo Stars.
