Shettima Submits Tinubu’s APC Nomination Forms For 2027 Presidential Race

VICE President Kashim Shettima on Thursday formally submitted President Bola Tinubu’s nomination and expression of interest forms to national officers of the ruling All Progressives Congress, signalling the President’s intention to clinch the party’s ticket for the 2027 presidential election and seek a second term in office.

News Point Nigeria reports that the submission ceremony, held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, drew party faithful, state governors, National Assembly members and top APC officials, as the Vice President rallied support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Speaking shortly after submitting the forms, Shettima said President Tinubu had demonstrated the capacity and determination needed to pull Nigeria out of the economic and social challenges confronting the country.

The Vice President relied heavily on what he described as the positive impact of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, urging party members and Nigerians to give the President their full backing ahead of the 2027 elections.

“We are here, first, as Nigerians, and secondly as members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to submit this very priceless nomination form of our dear President and leader, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as he seeks to lead us for another four-year term,” Shettima declared.

“Through thick and thin, this President has proved his mettle and has shown the world that his capacity and resolve to pull the nation out of the woods remain unfazed. Indeed, the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President has reflected on many successes of this administration. The socio-economic impacts have been phenomenal in pushing out positive results.”

Shettima further noted that although some of the decisions taken by the Tinubu administration appeared difficult, they were necessary to stabilise the nation’s economy and secure Nigeria’s future.

According to him, President Tinubu has courageously steered the affairs of the country through turbulent times.

“His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has delivered on the mandate of renewal, stability, and national rebirth. The storms of the past years have not diminished him; they have made a fine sailor out of him,” he stated.

“He has steered this ship through turbulent waters with courage, taking difficult but necessary decisions to stabilise the economy, restore confidence, and prepare Nigeria for a more sustainable future. Hence our support and reason for rallying round him.”

The Vice President maintained that every citizen has a role to play in sustaining democracy, stressing that while some would spread the achievements of the administration and the governing party, others would mobilise support and defend the democratic process.

“Banners will be lifted, some will defend the process, and some will mobilise the people.

“However, it beckons on us all to, as a matter of sacrifice and contribution, protect the hope of Nigeria,” he added.

“On behalf of our great party, I ask all Nigerians to support this nomination and, by the special grace of God, the candidacy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.”

Earlier, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, applauded President Tinubu’s leadership at what he described as a difficult period in Nigeria’s history.

Abbas assured Nigerians of better days and a brighter future under Tinubu’s leadership, saying the President’s courageous decisions and bold reforms had placed the country on the path of recovery, prosperity and progress.
