A FRESH wave of excitement swept through Kano’s football community on Thursday, September 11, 2025, as Hon. Abubakar Kabir Bichi, Member of the House of Representatives representing Bichi Federal Constituency, officially unveiled Bichi First Football Club and named former Flying Eagles and Super Eagles star, Abubakar Musa, as the club’s first head coach.
News Point Nigeria Sports reports that the ceremony, held at the club’s premises in Bichi Local Government Area, drew local sports enthusiasts, traditional leaders, youth groups, and community stakeholders who hailed the lawmaker’s initiative as a groundbreaking step in sports development.
Speaking at the unveiling, Hon. Bichi emphasized that the creation of Bichi First FC was part of a larger plan to harness raw football talent in the region, create opportunities for youth engagement, and combat social vices through sports.
“Our goal is to empower youths, discourage illicit activities and make Bichi First FC a source of pride for Kano State and Northern Nigeria,” the lawmaker said.
In a major boost to sports infrastructure, Hon. Bichi also revealed that plans are already underway for the construction of a state-of-the-art 18,000-capacity stadium in Bichi, which would host the club’s matches and serve as a hub for football development programs.
The newly appointed coach, Abubakar Musa, boasts a distinguished playing and coaching career, having featured for Jigawa Golden Stars, Eagle Cement, Dolphins FC, Enyimba International FC, and clubs in Saudi Arabia.
After retiring, he served as Assistant Coach at Plateau United and Kano Pillars, gaining valuable experience at the top levels of Nigerian football.
In his acceptance speech, Musa expressed gratitude to the club’s management for the opportunity and pledged to deliver quality football that would put Bichi First FC on the Nigerian football map.
“I will work hard to ensure Bichi First FC becomes a force to reckon with. With maximum support, we can achieve great success together,” Musa said, drawing cheers from supporters in attendance.
Bichi First FC is set to compete in the Nigerian National League (NNL), the second tier of Nigerian football, with ambitions of gaining promotion to the elite Nigeria Premier Football League in the coming seasons.
