THE National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, has announced that Vice President Kashim Shettima will visit Jos, the Plateau State capital, to officially welcome a wave of prominent politicians decamping to the ruling party.
News Point Nigeria reports that speaking at the APC Strategic Stakeholders Meeting held at the Crest Hotel Conference Hall, Jos, Prof. Nentawe said the Vice President’s visit is expected to take place within the next two weeks, as part of renewed efforts to strengthen the party’s base and consolidate its political influence across Plateau State and the North Central region.
“We welcomed Mr. President about two weeks ago, and now we are going to welcome the Vice President,”
Prof. Nentawe told party stakeholders, adding that the upcoming visit would mark another major milestone for the Plateau chapter of the APC.
According to the APC National Chairman, the event will attract some of the most influential figures in Nigeria’s political landscape.
He disclosed that the Senate President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and several APC governors have already confirmed their attendance.
“I spoke with the governors under our great party, and many of them confirmed their readiness to attend. The Senate President and the Speaker have also agreed to come. So, we’re going to have a full house again, back on the platform,” he said.
The APC chairman also announced that Architect P.D. Gyang has been appointed Chairman of the Central Planning Committee for the grand reception, with the rest of the committee members to be unveiled in the coming days.
Nentawe highlighted the APC’s ongoing community-driven programs designed to keep the party active, visible, and people-focused ahead of the next general elections.
He revealed that the party had just concluded a medical outreach programme facilitated by a team of U.S.-based doctors, which will now be sustained for another week by local medical professionals.
In addition, he announced the launch of a ₦100 million business empowerment initiative, tagged the APC Business Challenge, aimed at supporting young entrepreneurs and small business owners across the state.
“Some beneficiaries will receive ₦1 million, ₦500,000, or ₦250,000 each to support their existing businesses,” Prof. Nentawe explained, noting that the program will officially be unveiled next Monday.
The APC chairman assured party members that the leadership remains committed to grassroots mobilization, citizen empowerment, and sustained visibility across Plateau and beyond.
“We are determined to roll out programs that make real impact in people’s lives while keeping our party in the spotlight as the platform of progress and opportunity,” he said.
