VICE President Kashim Shettima on Thursday presided over a meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) held at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, as well as the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma.
Also present were governors of Zamfara, Jigawa, Lagos, Anambra, Gombe, Imo, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Benue, and Ondo States, alongside the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, who represented the state government.
While details of the deliberations are yet to be officially released, NEC meetings typically review updates on national revenue allocation, the Federation Account, fiscal challenges facing the country, and strategies for economic growth.
The forum also assesses policy directions in critical areas such as agriculture, security, infrastructure, and social investment.

NEC sessions are expected to shape policy decisions that directly impact both federal and state governments, particularly in areas of revenue sharing and national development priorities.
The outcome of Thursday’s session is expected to be communicated in a statement from the Vice President’s office in the coming hours.
