VICE President Kashim Shettima on Monday paid a condolence visit to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, at his Abuja residence over the death of his mother.
The vice president’s visit was disclosed in a post issued by his media aide, Stanley Nkowcha, on his official X handle.
During the visit, Shettima described the deceased as a woman of great virtue and a pillar of strength for her family.
He offered prayers for the repose of her soul and for the El-Rufai family to find the strength to navigate this difficult period of mourning.
The post read, “Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived at the Abuja residence of the former Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, to personally offer his condolences following the passing of the former governor’s mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai. Hajiya Umma passed away in Cairo, Egypt, on Friday after a brief illness at an advanced age.
“During the visit, VP Shettima described the deceased as a woman of great virtue and a pillar of strength for her family. He offered prayers for the repose of her soul and for the El-Rufai family to find the strength to navigate this difficult period of mourning.”
Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, who passed away last Friday in Cairo after an illness, was laid to rest on Sunday after funeral prayers were held.
Her death was earlier announced by her grandson, Bello El-Rufai, in a Facebook post, where he expressed gratitude for her life and called for prayers for her soul.
Following her death, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission granted temporary bail to El-Rufai to enable him to perform the funeral rites of his late mother.
