I WRITE with profound gratitude to express my heartfelt appreciation to courageous compatriots and nationalists who stood with me against the purported attempt by certain individuals to replace His Excellency Senator Kashim Shettima GCON as APC’s Vice Presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
Indeed, your unwavering support echoes a clear message, as removing Senator Shetima risks alienating Muslim voters and completely destabilizing APC’s chances in 2027. The potential consequences of such a move would be far-reaching and devastating, ultimately undermining the party’s prospects in the forthcoming elections.
While I do not claim to possess the gift of prophecy, I am confident that those pushing for Vice President Shettima’s replacement, and even suggesting alternatives like Yakubu Dogara, Matthew Hassan Kukah, Christopher Musa, or George Akume, are either oblivious to the complexities of the political landscape or are politically bankrupt.
It is essential to recognize that Shettima’s removal is not merely a personnel change, but a ticking time bomb that risks pitching the Muslim community against our great party, the APC, with uncontrollable and grave consequences in the 2027 elections.
It should be noted once more that the APC, as a political party, is founded on a tripod of the ACN, ANPP, and CPC, with segments of APGA and PDP. The recent suggestion of the name of the SGF through the back door suggests that the defunct ACN is seeking dominance, which we cannot allow to happen.
Furthermore, it should be noted that, the defunct ANPP has been marginalized in appointments, and the only treasure they have is about to be forcefully taken away. In light of these developments, the APC must beware that dissenting voices will not be silenced. Any attempt to remove Shettima will surely have severe consequences, which the APC cannot contain.
To my fellow compatriots, I urge you to stand firm with our ideals. We must not stand by while our party gambles with our collective future. The APC’s decision, if true, to replace Shettima would be a reckless gamble, and we must not allow it to happen.
To the misinformed Nigerians, let us set the record straight. The world has never opposed a Muslim-Muslim ticket in Nigeria. Not even the United States of America has expressed any reservations. It is essential to recognize that President Trump, or any foreign leader, cannot dictate who Nigeria’s President or Vice President should be. Nigeria is a sovereign nation, and we must assert our independence.
Honourable Minister Musa Musawa’s statement rings true. The North hardly sees President Tinubu as one of them, given his appointees’ composition.
His government is lopsided, dominated by cronies of one faith who did not vote for President Tinubu in the 2023 election, which is a recipe for bigger trouble ahead.
To my fellow compatriots once more, I urge you to stand firm. We must not stand by while our great party, the APC, gambles with our collective democratic future. The consequences of such a move would be catastrophic, and we must act rightly now, to prevent it.
