Due to the densely populated nature of Tunfure Settlement and unplanned development the road network had to be surveyed and designed properly and the Gombe State Govt paid over 600M as compensation to land and property owners two weeks ago.

The Tumfure roads network, awarded toTriacta Nig Ltd, comprises of about 11km of asphalted roads, 8m wide, with reinforced concrete road side drains, several box culverts, laterite subbase and crushed stonebase.

The project site is located in a flood prone area that suffers from massive flash flood every rainy season. The Hayin Kwarin Misau is the only link between the community of BCGA and Tabra in Gombe Metropolis.

This project was conceptualised on two aims; firstly to construct a bridge and road linking the two communities and secondly to provide river trimming and land reclamation such that the river flow is channelled to mitigate flooding.

The 4 span bridge was completed in June 2023 and immediately after the rainy season the bridge abutment where backfilled and road was connected. Then the tedious construction phase of river trimming, channel excavation, river bank protection and land reclamation began.

This project constitutes an asphalt road of about 500m long, 4 span R.C bridge, over 10000 cubic metres of hard core river bank protection, about 10 hectares of land reclamation and 1.3km of river channelization. The project is about 75% complete.
