PRESIDENT Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday arrived in Lagos for a working visit, as Nigeria prepares for a low-key celebration of its 65th Independence Anniversary.
News Point Nigeria reports that President’s arrival in Lagos followed his participation in the historic coronation of the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, held at the Mapo Hall, Ibadan, Oyo State.
During his stay in Lagos, Tinubu is expected to hold strategic meetings with key players in Nigeria’s private sector as well as senior government officials, with discussions likely to focus on economic recovery, investment opportunities, and job creation.
As part of activities lined up for the Independence anniversary, President Tinubu will commission the remodelled National Theatre in Lagos, which has now been renamed the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts in honour of Nigeria’s Nobel Laureate.
The President is also scheduled to travel to Imo State on Tuesday, September 30, where he will inaugurate major projects executed by Governor Hope Uzodimma.
This year’s Independence Day celebrations are expected to be modest, reflecting the administration’s commitment to prudence amid ongoing economic reforms.
The Presidency has said that the focus will remain on national unity, cultural heritage, and the resilience of Nigerians in the face of current economic challenges.
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, confirmed the President’s itinerary in a statement on Friday made available to News Point Nigeria, noting that the visit to Lagos and Imo would form a central part of activities marking Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
