Nigeria’s First Baby Of 2023
A BABY boy named, Chimemla Testimony Uchenna has been named Nigeria’s First Baby Of The Year 2023, Uchenna dropped at exactly 12:04am at the Kubwa General Hospital in Abuja, Sunday.
The Minister of Women Affairs Mrs Pauline Tallen, says the Federal Government would sustain the reward given to every first baby of the year and also monitor their development.
Tallen, represented by Mr Ali Madugu, Director Child Development Department in the ministry said the tradition of rewarding the baby of the year had been sustained since 2012.
Also, Mrs Aisha Buhari, Wife of the President, advised expectant mothers to ensure proper antenatal care, engage in six months of exclusive breastfeeding and strictly observe immunisation programmes to ensure adequate care for their babies.
Mrs Buhari, represented by Hajiya Rukayat Gunri, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Women Affairs and Administration, stressed the need to register the birth of new babies by the National Population Commission to enable the government plan for their welfare.

Junior Kungawo, a baby boy delivered by a 17-year-old mother, at Addington Hospital in Durban, South Africa has been named Africa’s First Baby Of The Year 2023.
Kungawo weighing 3.4kg dropped at exactly 12:03am to the joy of his 19-years-old father, Bandile Kungawo.
While congratulating the new mother, KZN Health MEC Nomagugu Simelane said they were concerned about the number of young women falling pregnant.
According to South african Department of Health, by about 1pm on New Year’s Day 186 babies had been born in the state hospitals, the figure comprises 106 girls and 80 boys.

The first baby born baby of the world 2023 was welcomed into the world by her parents and staff at Abbotsford Regional Hospital at 12:00.23secs-am at the Abbotsford Regional Hospital, Canada.
The newborn infant girl, weighing five pounds and 10 ounces, has been named Gabriella Louise Camayang by her parents Arben Camayang and Thea Villaneuva.
It’s the family’s first baby. “We didn’t expect her to come (Sunday). We thought it would take two to three days,” said Arben Camayang.“We didn’t know New Year’s baby was a thing and we are excited to have the first baby of the World.” The mom is doing well recovering and the whole delivery was done in 20 minutes.
