KANO State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has formally announced Deputy Governor Murtala Garo as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election.
News Point Nigeria reports that Governor Yusuf made the declaration during a strategic meeting with federal political appointees of President Bola Tinubu at the Kano Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the decision was based on Garo’s performance, loyalty and commitment since assuming office.
The governor said he remained satisfied with his choice of deputy governor, expressing confidence in Garo’s ability to continue supporting the administration’s objectives.
“I have no regrets for choosing Garo as my Deputy in the last few months, and he has proven to be the right choice so far,” Yusuf said.
“I want to confirm to you that I have every confidence in him,” the governor added.
Yusuf commended the deputy governor for his contributions to governance, noting that his efforts had played a significant role in advancing the administration’s development agenda across Kano State.
According to him, Garo has consistently demonstrated competence, dedication and a strong sense of responsibility in the discharge of his duties.

Reaffirming his trust in the deputy governor, the governor described Garo as a dependable partner whose support has been instrumental in the implementation of key government policies and programmes.
Governor Yusuf also urged party leaders, political appointees and supporters to remain united and focused ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“We must remain focused and committed as we consolidate on our achievements and move forward together,” he said.
