NIGERIA Police Force (NPF) has successfully deported a notorious Chinese fugitive, Mr. Dai Qisheng, to the People’s Republic of China after his dramatic arrest in Abuja.
The 45-year-old gang leader, wanted in Guizhou Province, China, for orchestrating and leading violent organised crimes, fled his country in 2024 after the Public Security Bureau of Zhijin County issued a warrant for his arrest.
He had been on the run for over a year, reportedly evading multiple crackdowns before seeking refuge in Nigeria.
However, operatives of the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB), Abuja, acting on intelligence and international alerts, launched discreet surveillance operations that tracked and apprehended him in the Federal Capital Territory on August 8, 2025.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi made available to News Point Nigeria, confirmed that Qisheng was repatriated to Beijing on August 15, 2025, under the framework of police-to-police cooperation coordinated by INTERPOL in partnership with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Nigeria.
“The Nigeria Police Force, in a landmark operation executed through INTERPOL NCB Abuja, has successfully repatriated a high-profile fugitive, Mr. Dai Qisheng, to the People’s Republic of China.
This decisive action, carried out in collaboration with INTERPOL NCB Beijing and the Chinese Embassy in Abuja, underscores the Force’s unyielding commitment to the fight against transnational organised crime,” Adejobi said.
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, hailed the successful operation as a clear demonstration that Nigeria will never serve as a haven for fugitives fleeing justice.
According to him, the arrest and repatriation sends a powerful message to global crime networks:
“This operation not only reaffirms the Nigeria Police Force’s resolve to ensure that no fugitive finds a safe haven within Nigeria but also reflects the strength of international partnerships in addressing the increasingly complex threats of global crime networks. Borders will never become barriers to justice.”
The IGP further stressed that Nigeria remains committed to strengthening cross-border security collaborations through intelligence sharing, operational partnerships, and international cooperation.
The extradition is seen as one of the biggest testaments to Nigeria’s growing reputation in tackling transnational organised crime, highlighting its alignment with global security efforts.
Mr. Qisheng has since been handed over to authorities in Beijing, where he will face prosecution for crimes linked to gang violence, racketeering, and organised criminal syndicates in Guizhou Province.
