2027: Peter Obi Will Not Contest Under Labour Party Again, Ozigbo Reveals

A FORMER chief executive officer (CEO) of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria, Valentine Ozigbo, has said Peter Obi will not contest the 2027 presidential election on the Labour Party (LP) platform which he ran on in 2023.

Ozigbo recently dumped the LP for the ruling All Progressives Congress, citing his “unwavering commitment” to the greater vision of Anambra State.

However, when he appeared on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’ on Thursday monitored by News Point Nigeria, Ozigbo said during his time in LP, he was part of some coalition discussions that shaped his belief that Obi will soon dump the party.

“I don’t see a future for the Labour Party. I’m happy to live with that assertion, and I would like to be proven wrong,” Ozigbo said.

“Peter Obi that we are talking about also left ANPP to APGA to PDP to Labour Party and I can almost guarantee that if he wishes to run for election, it’s not going to be under Labour Party. I can almost guarantee that.

“I am not his spokesperson. Maybe I am wrong, but I am a witness to a lot of discussions around coalitions and which I can tell you my own optimism about that.”
