    CSO Writes Abba Gida Gida, Demands Probe Of Muhuyi Magaji

    A COALITION operating under the umbrella of Kano Concerned Civil Society Group has called on Kano State Governor-Elect, Abba Kabiru Yusuf popularly known as Abba Gida Gida to look into allegations of financial misconduct and money laundering against Ex-Anti-Graft Boss, Muhuyi Magaji.

    The group, in a petition to Abba Gida Gida, jointly signed by the Chairman, Comrade Ibrahim Ali, and Secretary, Abbas Hassan requested that, the incoming administration conducts a comprehensive inquiry into Magaji’s financial practices and move quickly to see that justice is done.

    It could be recalled that, Abba Gida Gida’s Gubermatorial Transition Committee had invited members of the public to come forward with any relevant information which would assist the incoming administration in order to have more insight into what has been transpired in the last eight years (2015-2023) under the watch of the outgoing administration of Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

    According to the group, it is on the basis of that, they are demanding the full probe of Muhuyi Magaji.

    The letter reads in part:

    We at Umbrella of Kano Concerned Civil Society Groups feel compelled to have you with the following information, which was allegedly level against Barr Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado, revealed by the Commission via a press conference in recent time, against Barr. Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado.

    • 7.756,000.00 naira was released to the Commission in 2019 for the purchase of new boxes to the public Suggestion Box Department but there is neither record for the expenditure execution nor supply of the Boxes and the money was released to the Barr. Muhuyi Rimin Gado.

    • 36.960,000.00 naira released to the Commission for organizing 2-day Anti-Corruption Seminar for the newly elected Local Government officials. The money was released by Ministry for Local Government at which the Seminar did not take place.

    • 37.800,000.00 naira requested by the Barr. Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado and duly released from the office of accountant General to the Commission to conduct a six months routine training for the staff, but there is no record of the training conducted with the funds.

    Nigerian TAX Reform - Federal Goverment

    • 5.300,000.00 released to the Commission from the office of Accountant General dated 12/4/2021 for the payment of External Auditors (Salihu Metal & Co.) Engaged to audit the account of the Commission for the period of 2017-2019. Records indicates that the firm of the charted accountants charged the sum of 600,000.00 per annum as professional fees as against the sum of 1.766,000.00 far annum which was requested from government and paid to Barr. Muhuyi. The external auditor only received the payment of 400,000.00 by Barr. Muhuyi, which encouraged the Auditor still holding the audit reports.

    • 62.500,000.00 (USD) brought to the Commission by Isa Pilot and handed over to Barr. Muhuyi in respect of the case involving Gandun Sarki situated at Dorayi Karama, Kano. But the said amount of dollars was neither deposited in the Commission’s account nor in the custody of the exhibit keeper.

    • Non-completion of contract for the construction of Commission’s Local Government offices while from the technical and financial reports from the Local Government Councils, indicates that, the payment were made without valuation certificate from Works Department hence leading to over payment. Additionally, the Chairman HT Development Alhaji Aminu Rimin Gado, company holding the construction of 21 Local Government Offices complained to the Commission that Barr. Muhuyi collected money from him to facilitates the award of the contact through the Ministry for Local Government.

    • In the case of criminal breach of trust by Public servant involving one of the District Head and others, a recovery in the sum of 8.000,000.00 naira from the District Head was made. But Barr. Muhuyi released the sum of only 3.000,000.00 naira which was shared among the heirs ( the complaints) as against the said 8,000.000,00 that entirely belongs to the heirs. Whereas the sum of 5.000,000.00 naira was to be forfeited and deposited into the Kano State treasury as directed by Muhuyi, which is the legal rights and belongings to the complainants not that of Kano State Government.

    • 52.260,100.00 that was recovered and deposited into the client’s account of the Commission on behalf of the complainants, were withdrawn and utilized by Barr. Muhuyi expenditures while the complainants are always in visit to the Commission demanding for their payment since 2021.

    • During the investigation into the case of Darmanawa Gandun Sarki, the sum of 187 million naira was recovered on behalf of Ado Bayaro Royal City Trust Fund (ABRCTF) the sum of 50 million naira was released to the Emirate Council directly by Barr. Muhuyi while recard did not indicates the whereabouts of the remaining 137 million naira.

    The Umbrella of Kano Concerned Civil Society Groups, wish to forward the aforementioned allegations level against Barr. Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado during his days in office, as requested by the 2023 GTC in its recent press release that any relevant information should be submitted in order to assist the incoming administration.

    We want the 2023 Gubernatorial Transition Committee to consider this issue as a matter of concerned while investigating this matter to it’s logical conclusion would definitely resolved the level of controversy and open up the smokescreen tussling around. We also recommend that, the incoming administration to establish committee for forensic audit in order to find out the exact and precise fact as well as halting This stalemated imbroglio trending in the media from the both sides which is perplexing the public from the subject matter.

    We have the conviction that this matter will be treated with all sense of humanity and justice as  people of Kano State are eagerly looking forward to know the veracity of the allegations or otherwise.
