FORMER Governor of Adamawa State, Muhammed Umar Jibrilla Bindow, has formally announced his voluntary withdrawal from the race for the governorship ticket of the African Democratic Congress, citing personal reasons after what he described as deep reflection and careful consideration.
In a press statement obtained by News Point Nigeria and personally signed by Bindow, he stated that his decision to step down from the contest was entirely based on personal grounds and should not be interpreted as a withdrawal of his support for, or commitment to, the party.
Despite exiting the race, the former governor reaffirmed his loyalty to the ADC, its leadership, stakeholders, and members across all levels, pledging continued support for the party’s mission and its efforts toward building a stronger political platform.
“I remain fully committed to the party, its leaders, stakeholders, and members across all levels, and I will continue to support every genuine effort aimed at strengthening our party and advancing its vision for a better Adamawa State and a greater Nigeria,” he stated.
Bindow expressed gratitude to his supporters, political associates, and the people of Adamawa State for their encouragement, prayers, and confidence throughout his political journey, describing their support as both humbling and inspiring.
Sardaunan Mubi further noted that politics is about service, sacrifice, and placing collective interest above personal ambition, adding that his decision was guided by the need to strengthen unity within the party.
The former governor urged his supporters to remain calm, steadfast, and committed to the success of the ADC, while praying for continued peace and progress in Adamawa State and Nigeria.
Bindow served as Senator representing Adamawa North from 2011 to 2015. He was later elected Governor of Adamawa State in 2015 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), where he served a single term.
He was defeated in the 2019 governorship election by the incumbent, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a keenly contested poll.
