THE Chairman of Ungogo Local Government Area, Tijjani Amiru Bilyaminu, has ordered the closure of Al-Hadeed Private School until further notice following allegations of sexual abuse involving one of the school’s teachers.
News Point Nigeria reports that the decision came after a magistrate’s court remanded the teacher, identified as Uncle Kamal, over allegations that he sexually abused four minor pupils.
According to the council chairman, the closure was necessary to ensure justice for the victims and to allow the suspect face the full weight of the law.
Bilyaminu reaffirmed the commitment of the local government council to protecting the rights of children at all times, stressing that anyone found violating such rights would face severe consequences.
The accused teacher was arraigned before the magistrate’s court on Monday over allegations involving four minors identified as seven-year-old Hassana, Hussaina, Gambo, and their five-year-old sister.
During the proceedings, prosecution counsel, Badamasi Gandu, told the court that medical examinations confirmed the children had been sexually assaulted before the suspect was brought before the court.
Following the arraignment, the court ordered that the teacher be remanded in a correctional facility pending further proceedings.
The matter was subsequently adjourned until June 6.
