Rep Manu-Soro Dismisses Early 2027 Campaign Fever, Calls For Focus On Governance

A MEMBER of House of Representatives, Hon. Mansur Manu-Soro, has dismissed the increasing political clamour surrounding the 2027 general elections, describing it as premature and unnecessary at this point in the nation’s democratic journey.

Speaking during a media interaction with journalists in Bauchi on Thursday, the lawmaker, who represents Darazo-Ganjuwa Federal Constituency in Bauchi State, emphasised that his focus remains on delivering quality governance and legislative results, rather than getting distracted by speculative electoral talk.

“For now, I am more concerned with completing my current tenure and ensuring the successful passage of my sponsored legislative bills,” he said.

“Also, operationalising the University I facilitated in Soro for my constituents is a key priority. That’s where my energy is.”

Manu-Soro reiterated his commitment to sustainable development, especially in the sectors of education, healthcare, and agriculture, which he believes are critical to lifting his constituents out of poverty and underdevelopment.

“I am focusing on providing my legacy schools and clinics with reliable and sustainable sources of income. These are not just projects for today; I want them to continue thriving long after I leave office,” he said.

He noted that the people of Darazo-Ganjuwa deserve better, more impactful representation after years of neglect and unfulfilled promises.

According to him, governance should be about results and visibility, not mere political positioning.

“Since assuming office, I’ve maintained close contact with the people. I know their needs, and I have done my best to meet them. Just take a tour of the constituency, and you’ll see that the people are happy,” he stated.

Beyond constituency projects, Manu-Soro said he remains active in national legislative matters.

He revealed that he has sponsored 10 of the 87 prioritized constitutional amendment bills that are currently undergoing public hearings in the House of Representatives.

“These bills are crafted to promote good governance, transparency, and a people-centered democracy,” he explained.

“The objective is to improve the welfare of Nigerians, regardless of social or economic background.”

Manu-Soro urged his constituents to actively participate in the public hearing on the constitutional review process, stressing that every citizen should have a voice in shaping Nigeria’s next democratic chapter.

“The new constitution will define our future. I call on all people of Darazo-Ganjuwa to show up, speak up, and contribute to the process,” he said.

The lawmaker also took a moment to commend the Bauchi State Government, under Governor Bala Mohammed, for the strides made in improving public welfare, especially in infrastructure and social services.

“The State Government has done well, and we at the federal level will continue to complement those efforts,” he said.

He concluded by assuring his supporters that he would stay focused on service, not politics, and reaffirmed his commitment to delivering effective and impactful representation, as long as he remains in public office.
