YUSUF Adamu Gagdi, the lawmaker representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has lost the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the constituency’s House of Representatives seat.
News Point Nigeria reports that the primary election results were announced in Pankshin by the returning officer, Daspan Ishaya, who declared Dr. John Tongshinen as the winner after he polled 29,968 votes.
Gagdi, who was seeking another term in office, secured 5,849 votes, while another aspirant, John Pia, scored 51 votes.
The detailed breakdown of the results showed that Tongshinen maintained a commanding lead across all three local government areas that make up the constituency.
In Pankshin Local Government Area, Tongshinen polled 13,155 votes, while Gagdi scored 1,072 votes. In Kanke Local Government Area, Tongshinen recorded 6,438 votes against Gagdi’s 126 votes.
Similarly, in Kanam Local Government Area, Tongshinen also led with 10,375 votes, while Gagdi polled 4,651 votes.
Announcing the results, Ishaya explained that the figures were collated from various wards and local government areas, noting that his responsibility was to officially present the final aggregated outcome.
