SUPER Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has reportedly rejected a lucrative €40 million annual salary offer to move to Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal, despite the €75 million transfer fee already agreed between the Saudi club and Napoli.
Al-Hilal, coached by Simone Inzaghi, had tabled a massive contract offer worth over €30 million per year, later increasing it to €40 million annually, in a bid to secure the signature of the 26-year-old Nigerian forward.
However, in a dramatic twist, Osimhen has declined the proposal, halting what seemed to be an almost completed transfer.
“Despite an agreement between clubs on a €75m fee, Osimhen says no to the Saudi Pro League club.
Galatasaray will now insist on signing him, with the race open again.”
Many newspapers had earlier reported that Osimhen was set to undergo a medical with Al-Hilal, as the Saudi Pro League side had agreed to pay the full €75 million release clause in Osimhen’s contract with Napoli.
However, with this latest rejection, the striker’s future remains uncertain, and the race for his signature is now open again, with Galatasaray reportedly keen to insist on signing him.
Galatasaray, where Osimhen spent last season on loan and scored an impressive 37 goals with eight assists in 41 games, remain eager to sign the striker permanently.
However, the Turkish champions were previously unable to meet Napoli’s €75m release clause.
