PRESIDENT Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Vice-President Kashim Shettima on his 60th birthday, describing him as a trusted ally, valued colleague and patriot whose life has been defined by service, commitment and sacrifice for worthy causes.
News Point Nigeria reports that Tinubu, in a birthday message issued to mark Shettima’s 60th birthday on September 2, 2026, rejoiced with the Vice-President’s wife, Nana, his children, family and political associates on the important milestone.
The statement was signed by Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, on September 1, 2026.
Tinubu said he warmly congratulated Shettima, whom he described as his “brother and partner in steering the ship of our state,” on attaining the age of 60.
He said Kashim Shettima was not just a trusted ally or a valued colleague, but also a patriot whose life had been defined by service, commitment and sacrifice for worthy causes.
The President said in celebrating Shettima, the nation was also celebrating his distinguished banking career and exemplary record of service to Borno State and Nigeria.
He noted that Shettima’s unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s progress and unity was particularly worthy of mention.
Tinubu commended the Vice-President for his years of dedicated public service, first as Governor of Borno State and subsequently as Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
According to him, in both capacities, Shettima had demonstrated courage, diligence, compassion and an abiding commitment to improving the lives of the people.
The President also acknowledged, in particular, Vice-President Shettima’s loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC), his support for the administration and his unwavering dedication to the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Tinubu said that as Chairman of the National Economic Council, Shettima had provided purposeful leadership in coordinating economic policy and fostering collaboration among the Federal Government and the sub-nationals.
He further noted that Shettima’s respect for constitutional governance, democratic institutions, dialogue and consultation had helped strengthen good governance.
“As a trusted partner, his loyalty, wisdom and sense of duty have remained invaluable to the administration,” the President said.
Tinubu thanked the Vice-President for his steadfast support and partnership as they continued to join hands in delivering the promises of Renewed Hope to Nigerians.
“I am confident that working together, we will continue to make meaningful progress in building the Nigeria of our dreams,” he added.
On behalf of the Federal Government, Tinubu again congratulated Vice-President Shettima on the milestone, praying that Almighty Allah would continue to guide, protect and strengthen him.
“May Munificent Allah grant him wisdom and good health, and bless him with many more years of purposeful service to Nigeria,” the President prayed.
