TOTTENHAM Hotspur are preparing to strengthen their frontline this summer, with Nigerian international Ademola Lookman emerging as the club’s prime transfer target.
The 27-year-old winger, currently at Serie A side Atalanta, has been linked with a move back to the Premier League after a remarkable 2024/25 campaign in Italy.
Lookman was instrumental in Atalanta’s attacking play, registering 27 goal contributions across all competitions, a return that has now attracted the attention of Spurs.
According to transfer outlet Fichajes, Tottenham now consider Lookman their “main target” after missing out on several other attacking options earlier in the window.
And the London club are preparing to table a fee of about $50m for the Super Eagles forward.
Spurs have already bolstered their attack with the signings of Mohammed Kudus and Xavi Simons, signaling their ambition to challenge both domestically and in Europe under manager Ange Postecoglou.
Club insiders believe adding Lookman’s versatility he can operate on both flanks and centrally would give the North London side a complete forward line capable of competing at the highest level.
“The Nigerian forward is dynamic, adaptable, and proven at the top level,” a club source noted. “He could be the final piece that balances the attack.”
Lookman, who previously played for Everton, Fulham, and Leicester City, is no stranger to the Premier League.
His prior experience in England means he could settle quickly and make an instant impact in Tottenham’s push for silverware.
For the player, the move also represents an exciting opportunity. With Spurs able to offer Champions League football, a large platform, and the chance to compete for major trophies, insiders believe Lookman would be open to the switch if Atalanta and Tottenham can reach an agreement on transfer terms.
At 27, Lookman is widely seen as being at the peak of his career. Sources close to the player suggest he is keen to take on a new challenge, and a return to the Premier League could be the perfect stage to cement his reputation as one of Europe’s most consistent forwards.
For Tottenham, sealing the deal would not only strengthen their squad but also provide manager Postecoglou with greater attacking depth, as the club seeks to make a strong push for both domestic success and European glory.
