Unveiling Kaduna’s Chief Of Staff, Sani Liman Kila

SANI Liman Kila was born in Kila, Jigawa State, on June 23, 1968. He attended Kila Kudu Central Primary School from 1974 to 1980 and Government Secondary School Dawakin Tofa, Kano from 1980-1985. He gained admission to B.Ed English at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, graduating in 1998. He also earned a MSc Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution from National Open University of Nigeria in 2009.

He joined the Nigeria Immigration Service in 1989 and In 1991, he was at the Immigration Training School, Kano (TSK) before he proceeded to Machine Readable Passport (MPR) Training in 2000. He was at the Institute Of Management Consultant Course in 2007, and he attended the Leadership Management Course and Intelligence Management Course both in 2016.

In 2018, he was at DSS Training School Lagos for another Intelligence Management Course, before he proceeded to a Corporate Leadership and People Management Skill Training that same year, and later in the year, he was at Participant, Passport Officers Workshop, NIS, Abuja. Kila was also at the Immigration Command and Staff College Sokoto in 2019.

It is an established fact that, Kila has tremendously contributed to the development of the Immigration Service in Nigeria over the last three decades, therefore it is no surprise that he is widely regarded as someone who is patriotic, passionate, honest, courageous and compassionate.

Positions held and his track record of service is a big attestation to that; he was Senior Intelligence Officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service in 2017; Immigration Officer-In-Charge, Dangote Refinery, Lagos in 2019; he was past of a Foreign Intervention to the Republic of Niger in 2019; Deputy Comptroller of Immigration (Intelligence) in 2020 and Special Assistant to the Comptroller General of Immigration (Investigations) from September 2020 to March 2021.

In 2021, he diligently rose to become Chairman, Fire Incidence Investigation Committee at the Nigeria Immigration Service Headquarters; Passport Control Officer, Amana City Dawakin Kudu Kano from March 2021 to August 2022; he was part of a Foreign Intervention to the Republic of Malawi in 2022; Comptroller of Immigration Service, Kaduna State Command from August 2022 to February 2023; Comptroller of Immigration Service, Kano State Command from February 2023 to April 2023 and he retired a month later.

Kila’s selflessness and sacrifice were also felt in other spheres of life; he was State Chairman of the National Open University Alumni Association, Kaduna Branch in 2014 and National President, National Open University Alumni Association in 2016.

With an uncommon commitment and dedication to duty, Kila worked assiduously and ethically for the growth of the service; while serving as Comptroller of Immigration, Kaduna State Command, he facilitated the arrest and ease-out of one thousand (1000) illegal immigrants in the state possessing PVCs and other critical national documents.

He also facilitated in another phase of mop-up operation, the arrest and ease-out of five hundred and sixteen (516) Illegal Immigrants in possession of Permanent Voters’ Cards in Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State in preparation for the 2023 General Elections.

During the brief time in office as Comptroller of Immigration Service, Kano State Command, he facilitated the rescue of six (6) victims of human trafficking along BUK Road in the metropolis and handed them over to NAPTIP for further investigation.

Before his retirement from the Service in Kano, facilitated the rescue of eighteen (18) victims of human trafficking enroute to Libya in Kano in April, 2023 handing them over to NAPTIP

In acknowledgement of these rare achievements, he was made a Fellow Institute of Industrialists & Corporate Administrators (FIICA) in recognition of his proficiency in Corporate Administration in December, 2022.

He also got an Award of Embodiment of Women and Youth Champion Excellence  by Ideal Women Support and Empowerment Foundation and an Award of Excellence by BIZI Mobile Cashless Consultant Limited for his selfless service to humanity and contributions towards the Nation – July, 2022.

He won Al-Muamulat Hausa Weekly Newspaper and Monthly Magazine award for promoting Islamic Affairs, Humanitarian Services, Health, Education, Youth Empowerment and Women in 2022 and got a  Congratulatory letter from the Kano State Government upon promotion to the rank of Comptroller to Immigration in recognition of hardwork and professionalism displayed as Passport Control Officer, Amana City, Dawakin Kudu, Kano in 2022.

He was awarded the Legislative Writers Forum Award of Excellent Leadershipin 2022 and. The National Association of Northern Nigerian Students (NANNS) Award of Ambassadorship as an Icon of Humanitarian Service/ Societal Development – 2023, among many others.

In a quest for higher call to service, Kila was just sworn in as the Chief of Staff to Kaduna state governor, Senator Uba Sani.

Kila is happily married with children.
