Planned Nationwide Protest: Ambassador Lawal Calls For Peace

THE Abuja Coordinator of the International Association Of World Peace Advocates IAWPA has called on Nigerians to embrace peace and remain calm in their dealings.

Amb. Lawal, a global peace advocate made this known while reacting to the planned nationwide hunger protests planned for August 1st.

Lawal in a press statement made available to newsmen in Abuja the Federal Capital Territory FCT, said as much as the those planning the protests remain entitled to airing their opinions in the face of the current hardship in the country, they should also learn to eschew peace considering the fact that peace is the only answer to whatever challenges that the people may be facing.

He implored Nigerians to ensure they exhaust all available ways to engage the government in a peaceful manner rather than resorting to mass protest that will lead to vandalisation of not just government properties but that of innocent individuals doing their legitimate businesses.

“The ugly lessons of the endsars protest should not be forgotten so soon. We must not make the same mistakes hence the importance of taking the advice of this message which is a message of peace to the Nigerian people” the statement said.

Amb. Lawal also called on the Federal Government to as a matter of urgency, address issues of governance that is affecting the people. He said it is very wrong for the government to keep mum in the face of hardship being faced by the people.

He called on the government to open lines of communication that will prevent a breakdown of law and order which may be occasioned by the hijacking of the peaceful protests by undesirable elements.
