THE Jigawa State Government has honoured the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Jigawa State Council, Comrade Ismail Ibrahim Dutse, with the prestigious Security Advocate Award.
News Point Nigeria reports that the recognition celebrates his outstanding commitment to strengthening cybersecurity and digital safety knowledge among journalists in the state, thereby promoting responsible and ethical journalism in a rapidly digitizing world.
Presenting the award on behalf of Governor Malam Umar Namadi, FCA, in Dutse, the Director-General of Jigawa ICT and Digital Economy, Dr. Muhammad Hassan, described Comrade Ismail Dutse as a champion of digital knowledge.
He noted that the Chairman’s visionary leadership aligns strongly with the administration’s Greater Jigawa 12-Point Agenda on ICT advancement and digital transformation.
Similarly, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Digital Economy, Malam Murtala Lawan Kazaure, acknowledged the NUJ’s pivotal contributions to public awareness campaigns on cybersecurity and other government policies, praising journalists for their role in enhancing public understanding and safety.
In his response, Comrade Ismail Ibrahim Dutse expressed gratitude to the State Government for what he described as a historic and memorable milestone not just for him, but for journalists across Jigawa State and Nigeria.
He reaffirmed the NUJ’s commitment to continued collaboration with the Namadi administration to ensure the successful implementation of the government’s digital-driven development agenda.
“This honour motivates us to do more,” he said. “We will keep pushing boundaries to ensure journalists are well-equipped for the digital age as we work together to move Jigawa to the next level of progress.”
