SUPER Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, has been ruled out of Nigeria’s international friendly against Jordan after suffering a thigh injury in training.
News Point Nigeria Sport reports that the development was confirmed on Monday in a statement by the team’s media officer, Promise Efoghe, who disclosed that the goalkeeper picked up a “thigh knock” during preparations for the encounter.
Okoye had only recently returned to the national team setup after missing out on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
He featured in Nigeria’s 2–1 victory over Iran in their opening game of the four-nation invitational tournament, marking a strong comeback between the sticks.
His absence now leaves head coach Eric Chelle with limited options in goal.
The responsibility is expected to fall on either Adebayo Adeleye or Francis Uzoho, with Stanley Nwabali not included in the squad.
The Eagles are also dealing with other setbacks ahead of the fixture. Semi Ajayi has been ruled out with a knock, while Bruno Onyemaechi has left camp following the birth of his first child.
Nigeria will take on the Jordan national football team on Tuesday in Antalya, Turkey, with a kickoff scheduled for 6:30 pm Nigerian time.
The match presents another opportunity for the Super Eagles to fine-tune their squad, though the absence of key players will test the team’s depth.
