TENSION erupted in parts of Jos, the Plateau State capital, as residents of Angwan Rukuba and surrounding communities staged protests over alleged irregularities in the All Progressives Congress (All Progressives Congress) primary election process.
News Point Nigeria reports that the protesters accused party officials of conducting what they described as a flawed exercise lacking transparency and credibility. According to several aggrieved residents, no proper election was held in some areas, alleging instead that candidates were imposed through what they called a “selection process” rather than a democratic primary.
The demonstrators expressed deep frustration over what they described as the undermining of the will of party members, calling on the APC leadership to urgently ensure a transparent, free, and fair process that would restore confidence among supporters and stakeholders.
Some residents warned that failure to address the grievances could further deepen divisions within the party ahead of future elections in Plateau State.
The development has raised fresh concerns about the APC’s ability to manage internal disputes and maintain unity as political activities intensify across the state.
As of the time of filing this report, the APC leadership in Plateau State had not issued any official response to the allegations raised by the protesters.
