THE Zamfara State Government has expressed deep sorrow over the death of three policemen who paid the supreme price while carrying out their duties in the state.
News Point Nigeria reports that the three officers, attached to the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit of the Zamfara State Police Command, were killed on Monday after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by bandit terrorists exploded along the Anka-Bagega Road in Anka Local Government Area.
The tragic incident claimed the lives of the gallant officers while they were on official duty, underscoring the growing dangers faced by security personnel in the fight against banditry and violent crime in the state.
In honour of the fallen officers, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Malam Abubakar Nakwada, led a high-powered delegation of the Zamfara State Government to attend the funeral prayers held for the deceased policemen.
The funeral prayers took place at the Zamfara State Police Command Headquarters in Gusau and were led by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, in accordance with Islamic rites.
During the ceremony, Nakwada conveyed the heartfelt condolences of the Zamfara State Government and its people to the Inspector-General of Police, the Zamfara State Police Command, the bereaved families, and the entire police community.
He prayed for Allah’s mercy upon the deceased officers, asking that they be granted eternal rest while their families receive the strength and fortitude to bear the painful and irreparable loss.
The SSG also reaffirmed the commitment of the Zamfara State Government to continue supporting the families left behind by the slain officers in recognition of their sacrifice and service to the nation.
Nakwada further reiterated the government’s determination to sustain its collaboration with security agencies in the ongoing campaign to rid the state of banditry and all forms of criminal activities.
According to him, the deaths of the officers would not weaken the resolve of the government and security agencies but would instead strengthen their commitment to restoring peace and security across the state.
“This tragic incident will not make us relent; it only emboldens us. We will intensify our efforts, and victory is assured, In-Sha-Allah,” he stated.
The state government maintained that despite the latest setback, it remains committed to supporting security operations and working closely with relevant agencies to defeat criminal elements threatening lives and livelihoods in Zamfara State.
