A TOTAL of 315 Nigerians stranded in South Africa are expected to arrive in the country on Wednesday (Tomorrow), July 15, 2026, as the Federal Government concludes its evacuation exercise following recent xenophobic attacks and security concerns in parts of the country.
News Point Nigeria reports that the final evacuation flight, which will be operated by Air Peace, is scheduled to depart South Africa at 1:30 a.m. and arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at about 6:30 a.m.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa.
According to the ministry, the evacuation exercise is specifically for Nigerians who had indicated interest in returning home as a result of the attacks and the deteriorating security situation in some parts of South Africa.
The Federal Government had earlier carried out four evacuation flights, which brought back hundreds of Nigerians affected by the recent incidents.
The previous batch of the evacuation exercise returned a total of 40 Nigerians to the country.
The ministry noted that the latest airlift would mark the final phase of the government’s evacuation operation.
It also reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to protecting Nigerians wherever they may reside and expressed appreciation to all stakeholders who contributed to the success of the evacuation exercise.
The government further assured citizens of its continued determination to safeguard their welfare and interests both within and outside the country.
