As INEC Lifts Ban, ADC’s Ibrahim Little Calls For Issue-Based, Peaceful Campaigns In Kano

AS the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) lifted restrictions on campaigns, giving governorship candidates the go-ahead to take their messages to the people, the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kano State, Alhaji Ibrahim Ali Amin Little, has called for issue-based campaigns ahead of the 2027 election.

News Point Nigeria reports that Little urged all governorship candidates to conduct peaceful campaigns devoid of hate speech and inflammatory rhetoric capable of inciting trouble among the electorate.

In a statement issued by his campaign office and signed by Adnan Mukhtar, the campaign’s representative, Little said that as INEC opens the campaign gate, Kano needs leaders who choose to build rather than destroy.

He added that the campaign period must be used to address the real problems confronting the state rather than create division and chaos among the electorate.

Little explained that if elected Governor of Kano State in 2027, he would work with all and sundry, especially security agencies, youths, traditional rulers, the business community, Ulamas and technocrats, to squarely and adequately secure the state.

The ADC governorship flag-bearer said that to make Kano work again, his administration would also tackle the level of social ills resulting from drug abuse among youths in the state.

He promised to tackle the menace, rehabilitate victims of drug abuse and engage them in meaningful trades, such as farming and small and medium enterprises.

Little then charged Kano youths to fully take ownership of the campaign process, describing them as leaders of today and not tomorrow. He urged them to work towards ensuring a landslide victory for the major opposition ADC for a brighter and more promising Nigeria in the forthcoming 2027 general election.

The ADC candidate also condemned the recent attack on journalists at a political event organised by the opposition All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) in Kano.

Little described the attack as uncivilised and called on the state government to guard against any recurrence.

He also urged the government to compensate the station whose vehicle was damaged and whose staff were allegedly harassed, saying such action would be in the overall interest of the people of Kano.

Little’s call for an issue-based campaign comes as political parties and their candidates intensify preparations for the 2027 elections, with the ADC candidate having previously outlined plans focused on youth empowerment, economic revival, industrial development and restoring Kano’s position as a major commercial hub.
