A DELEGATION from Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) has formally handed over a Toyota Hilux vehicle donated by the university’s Founder, Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, to the office of the Vice Chancellor of Northwest University, Kano (NWU), Professor Amina Salihi Bayero.
News Point Nigeria reports that the delegation was led by the President of MAAUN, Professor (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, and included the Vice President (Administration), Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar; Senate Member, Dr. Nura Yaro; and Hayatuddeen M. Abdallah of the university’s Corporate Communications Unit.
The team was warmly received on arrival by the Vice Chancellor of Northwest University and members of the institution’s management.
The presentation of the vehicle fulfilled a promise made by Professor Gwarzo during a recent courtesy visit by the Northwest University management to him in Abuja, where he pledged to donate an official vehicle to the office of the Vice Chancellor.
Presenting the vehicle on behalf of the founder, the MAAUN President said the donation was aimed at strengthening collaboration between the two institutions while enhancing administrative efficiency.
He reaffirmed Professor Gwarzo’s commitment to supporting higher education through strategic partnerships and sustained institutional cooperation.
Receiving the vehicle, Professor Bayero expressed appreciation to Professor Gwarzo for fulfilling his promise, describing the donation as another demonstration of his generosity and unwavering commitment to the development of education.
She recalled that Professor Gwarzo had previously donated a luxurious bus to Northwest University and had also provided other forms of support to the institution.
The Vice Chancellor further disclosed that Professor Gwarzo had pledged to assist Northwest University in accessing international grants and other opportunities aimed at advancing research, teaching and overall institutional development.
Also speaking, the Registrar of Northwest University said the visit had created fresh opportunities for collaboration between both institutions, including the possible establishment of a joint academic and research centre.
He prayed for Allah’s continued blessings upon Professor Gwarzo and the entire MAAUN family.
The university’s Bursar also described the Toyota Hilux as a valuable contribution that would significantly enhance the university’s administrative operations and improve service delivery.
