THE Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has disengaged the operator responsible for Nigeria’s visa applications and submission centres in the United States of America, announcing a new process for prospective travellers seeking Nigerian visas.
News Point Nigeria reports that the service directed all Nigerians and other applicants in the United States who require Nigerian visas to henceforth submit their applications directly at the Embassy of Nigeria in Washington, D.C., or the Nigerian Consulates in New York and Atlanta.
The NIS announced the decision on Wednesday in Abuja through a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, Deputy Controller of Immigration (DCI) Akinsola Akinlabi.
According to the statement, Online Integrated Solution (OIS SERVICES), the operator of Nigeria’s Visa Application and Submission Centres in the United States, has been officially disengaged from collecting and submitting visa applications on behalf of the Nigerian Mission, with immediate effect.
“The Nigeria Immigration Service hereby informs the general public, particularly prospective travelers and Nigerians residing in the United States of America who may require a visa to enter Nigeria, that Online Integrated Solution (OIS SERVICES), the operator of Nigeria’s Visa Application and Submission Centres in the United States, has officially been disengaged from the collection and submission of visa applications on behalf of the Nigerian Mission, effective immediately,” Akinlabi stated.
He added that all applicants seeking Nigerian visas are now required to submit their applications directly to the Embassy of Nigeria in Washington, D.C., or the Consulates of Nigeria in New York and Atlanta until further notice.
“Accordingly, all applicants seeking Nigerian visas are required to submit their applications directly at the Embassy of Nigeria in Washington, D.C., or at the Consulates of Nigeria in New York and Atlanta until further notice,” the NIS spokesperson said.
Akinlabi further explained that the Nigerian Embassy and Consulates in the United States have put adequate measures in place to ensure smooth submission, processing and issuance of visas for Nigerians and other citizens.
He advised applicants to regularly monitor the official communication channels of the Nigerian Immigration Service and Nigerian diplomatic missions in the United States for updates regarding visa application procedures.
“Applicants are further advised to monitor the official communication channels of the Nigeria Immigration Service and the Nigerian Mission in the United States for updates on visa application procedures,” the statement added.
The service assured applicants of its commitment to improving efficiency in visa processing and service delivery.
“The Service appreciates the understanding and cooperation of all applicants and remains committed to providing efficient Service Delivery,” the statement concluded.
