SIX aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Kaiama Local Government Area seeking the party’s House of Representatives ticket for the Baruten–Kaiama Federal Constituency have jointly rejected what they described as attempts to impose a candidate on the constituency ahead of the forthcoming elections.
The position was contained in a statement sent to News Point Nigeria by the Concerned Kaiama APC House of Representatives Aspirants after a meeting held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, where the aspirants resolved to protect the integrity of the democratic process and preserve unity within the APC family in Kaiama.
According to the statement, the aspirants reaffirmed their loyalty to the ruling party but insisted that the people and stakeholders of Kaiama must retain the right to determine who emerges as their preferred candidate for the House of Representatives seat.
The aspirants stated that the meeting further resolved that all aspirants from Kaiama would subject themselves to the collective decision of Kaiama elders, APC stakeholders, and party leaders regarding the emergence of a consensus candidate.
They also pledged to support whoever eventually emerges through the stakeholders’ process and work together to ensure the success of the APC during the elections.
According to them, unity within Kaiama and the broader Baruten–Kaiama Federal Constituency remains paramount, stressing that personal ambitions must be secondary to the collective interest of the party and the people.
The aspirants further urged communities and party leaders in Baruten Local Government Area to support only a candidate endorsed by Kaiama and not any candidate imposed from outside the local consensus arrangement.
They also appealed to the APC national leadership, the Kwara State chapter of the party, and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to ensure that no candidate is imposed on the Baruten–Kaiama Federal Constituency.
“The six aspirants respectfully requested the APC at the national level, at Kwara state chapter and the State leader His Excellency Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to please ensure that no candidate is imposed on the Baruten-Kaiama federal constituency,” the statement read.
The meeting ended with a call on party members and supporters to remain calm, united, and committed to the progress and electoral success of the APC.
The aspirants listed in the statement are Hon. Aliyu Umar Mande, Comrade Abubakar Musa Shamaki, Arc. Aliyu Muhammad Saiffudeen, Hon. Halidu Danbaba, Malam Anas Adamu Galadima (Zam-Zam), and Hon. Aliyu Abubakar Ibrahim (Alhaji Wure).
