AHEAD of the 2027 General Elections, some chieftains of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) across the country, under the aegis of the APC Solidarity Group, have formally petitioned the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party through the office of the National Chairman, seeking appropriate sanctions against former Benue State Chairman, Austin Agada, over alleged anti-party activities.
News Point Nigeria reports that the petition, signed by the group’s National Organising Secretary, Sa’idu Muhammad, accused Agada of engaging in cross-party endorsement of Senator Abba Moro of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other opposition figures.
The acknowledgement copy of the petition, dated October 2, 2026, is titled: “Petition against anti-party activities, public opposition to the APC governorship, Senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly candidates in Benue South Senatorial district, Zone C of Benue State: A conduct prejudicial to the interest of the APC at large.”
Specifically, the group is asking the NWC to constitute an investigative committee to look into the allegations and invite Austin Agada to appear before it.
The group further requested that a disciplinary committee be constituted to discipline Agada if he is found guilty, while urging the party to publicise whatever disciplinary measures are taken against him to serve as a deterrent to others.
According to the petitioners, Austin Agada, acting as the leader of a prominent faction of the APC loyal to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, in Benue State, made a highly publicised move by cross-party endorsing the PDP’s Senator Abba Moro for the 2027 senatorial seat.
The group alleged that Agada went as far as boldly printing banners bearing the names and images of the APC presidential candidate, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alongside those of Senator Abba Moro of the PDP.
The APC Solidarity Group contended that the alleged conduct amounted to open opposition to APC candidates contesting the governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly elections in Benue South Senatorial District, also known as Zone C.
The petitioners are therefore asking the APC NWC to investigate the allegations, invite Agada to explain his actions and, where he is found culpable, impose appropriate disciplinary measures in accordance with the party’s rules.
The group also wants the outcome and sanctions, if any, to be made public as a warning to other party members who may engage in similar activities ahead of the 2027 elections.
