Post-Inauguration Unity!

OUR dear fatherland with so much history, growing daily with people who care less about their history, only a well fed individual remembers history but little did majority know that its in our history we find our CORE VALUES.

Values that can nourish every sector and give to countries near and far but those who colonized us started brainwashing us from our fore fathers and now we are here in 2023, all we clamour for is DIVISION.

The tribal war which brewed from our last elections isn’t helping our Unity as nation either. The Yoruba man despises the Hausa, the Hausa despises the Igbo, creating a circle of hate, we don’t need, hate that won’t do us any good.We look for reasons to pull other regions down to make ourselves look superior but we don’t need a soothsayer to tell us we are just like our toes, one toe goes down, the others follow.

Greed has made us dwell more on our differences than similarities, forgetting that our differences make us more beautiful as a nation!

From a young age,we try to imbibe the right cultural values,in schools, you can offer any language you want,I personally went from Yoruba class to Hausa class, some Igbos were also in Hausa class. MY QUESTION IS WHERE DID OUR SYSTEM GO WRONG? Only an unexposed biased illiterate or a tribalistic bigot will despise a specific sect or religion in Nigeria. You want me to hate Igbos and Hausas because my name is Fajembola?

You want me to cringe at Stella and David because I am Azeezat? We forget the basics of humanity quickly!

Every tribe or religion has bad eggs, division now or anytime in the future can never solve our problem. I don’t need to see vision to tell us that in our division there will be redivision, because I know the 3 major tribes to an extent.

Some Yobes can’t marry the Adamawas, some Kwarans can’t marry Ondos,Some Enugus can marry Calabars, if many of us are in this category and more then WHY THE CLAMOURING FOR DIVISION?WHY THE SHOWOFF OF HYPOCRISY?!

I used marriage as an example because it is the basic unit of every society, if we can have sentiments about this, HOW DO WE WANT TO BUILD A COUNTRY EVEN AFTER DIVISION?

HYPOCRISY UPON HYPOCRISY! Abia laughs at Rivers when he speaks English,Lagos at Oyo when he speaks English, Kano at Nassarawa, as if English is our mother tongue! IS THE CONFLUENCE OF RIVER NIGER & BENUE ACROSS OUR LANDS NOT ENOUGH SIGN FOR US FROM GOD?!

I strongly believe NIGERIANS can do better in fostering peace, love and unity at individual, societal and national level. Nigeria is our land, everything in it and on it is food and shelter for all.

Azeezat is of Women in Global Health (Nigeria Chapter).
