MANCHESTER United have opened negotiations with Napoli to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen in the next summer transfer window.
Osimhen, who played a crucial role in ending Napoli’s 33-year wait for the Serie A title, has emerged as a prime target for Man United manager Ruben Amorim, who sees the 26-year-old as a perfect fit to bolster his attacking options ahead of the 2025/26 season.
According to Tuttosport, Napoli’s sporting director, Giovanni Manna, is already in talks with United over a potential deal valued at around €70 million.
Reports indicate the Red Devils could include Danish striker Rasmus Højlund as part of the package to offset the cost.
The move would reunite Manna with United officials after successful negotiations earlier this year involving Scott McTominay’s switch to Napoli and talks concerning Alejandro Garnacho.
Although Osimhen was a mainstay in Napoli’s starting lineup in previous seasons, relations between the striker and the club deteriorated significantly towards the end of the last campaign.
That breakdown ultimately led to a loan move to Galatasaray, where Osimhen has rediscovered top form, contributing an impressive 34 goals in 32 appearances in all competitions.
Despite returning to Napoli this summer, Osimhen’s departure is considered imminent, with the club willing to sell for the pre-agreed price of €70 million.
The Nigerian international is reportedly keen on a move to the Premier League, and Man United are seen as frontrunners for his signature.
