THE National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has expressed grief over the death of Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, mother of a former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, describing her as a caring figure with whom he shared fond memories.
News Point Nigeria reports that Ribadu disclosed this in a condolence message posted on Facebook on Friday, where he reflected on his personal encounters with the deceased and extended sympathies to the El-Rufai family.
“Inna lilLahi wa inna illahir raji’un. I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, the matriarch of the El-Rufai family. I have fond memories of shared moments with her and her motherly care. At a time like this, words can offer little comfort for such a profound loss.
“My heartfelt condolences to Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and the entire family. May Almighty Allah forgive her shortcomings, grant her eternal rest in Aljannah Firdaus, and give the family the strength to bear this loss,” he wrote.
News Point Nigeria had earlier reported that Hajiya Umma El-Rufai died on Friday, with her passing announced by a family member in a Facebook post.
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. From Allah SWT we came and to Him we shall all return. I would like to inform the public of the demise of my grandmother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai who passed away a few hours ago,” the post read.
The family described her as a devoted mother and prayed for the repose of her soul.
Details surrounding her death were not immediately available as of the time of filing this report.
The development comes amid ongoing legal proceedings involving El-Rufai.
Recall the Federal Government filed charges against the former governor before the Federal High Court, Abuja, alleging unlawful interception of communications involving Ribadu during a television appearance.
