THE All Progressives Congress (APC) has reiterated its resolve to deepen internal democracy and promote national unity as party leaders, stakeholders, and delegates convened in Abuja for its 8th National Convention.
News Point Nigeria reports that the high-profile gathering, held at the nation’s capital, brought together key figures within the ruling party, including the Vice President, Kashim Shettima; Senate President, Godswill Akpabio; governors; members of the National Assembly; and thousands of party delegates.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, the Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, commended the organisation of the convention, describing it as one of the most structured and transparent in the party’s history.
According to him, extensive planning and coordination ensured that the process was guided by legality, inclusiveness, and strict adherence to party rules and national laws.
He explained that multiple committees, including legal and resolution panels, were established to oversee proceedings and guarantee that all activities align with constitutional provisions and democratic standards.
Goronyo emphasised that respect for the rule of law remains a cornerstone of the administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the convention reflects this broader governance philosophy.
He highlighted the role of the Attorney General of the Federation in chairing key committees, describing it as a clear indication of the party’s commitment to due process and institutional integrity.
“The expectation is that we will emerge stronger and more united. This convention is designed to deepen internal democracy and promote inclusivity among party members,” he said.
Party leaders at the convention stressed the importance of unity, urging members to remain committed to the APC’s vision of national development and political stability.
They noted that beyond leadership selection, the convention serves as a platform to reinforce party cohesion and chart a strategic direction ahead of future political contests.
