THE Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has conferred its prestigious Fellowship on the Honourable Minister of State for Works, Rt. Hon. Bello Muhammad Goronyo, Esq., in recognition of his contributions to strategic communication, leadership, and national development.
This was disclosed in a statement sent to News Point Nigeria by the Special Assistant (Media) to the Minister, Abdullahi Mohammed, who noted that the honour reflects Goronyo’s sustained efforts in promoting transparency, strengthening government–citizen engagement, and institutionalising effective communication in public service delivery.
The Fellowship, conferred on Thursday, April 23, 2026, is one of the highest distinctions of the Institute, reserved for individuals who have demonstrated exceptional influence in advancing the ideals and professional standards of public relations in Nigeria and beyond.
According to the statement, Goronyo’s recognition underscores his commitment to leveraging communication as a strategic tool in the execution of infrastructure projects nationwide, a move said to have significantly enhanced public trust and improved stakeholder engagement.
The Minister’s communication approach, it added, aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritises inclusive governance, accountability, and sustainable national development, particularly through accelerated infrastructure delivery.
Goronyo has consistently emphasised clear, proactive, and responsible communication in the implementation of key projects, ensuring that Nigerians remain adequately informed about government policies and ongoing infrastructural developments.
The Minister also urged the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations to deepen its role in promoting awareness of government policies and programmes, especially in the area of infrastructure under the current administration.
He stressed that as the nation’s foremost professional communication body, the Institute has a critical responsibility to effectively inform citizens about policy reforms, infrastructural projects, and the tangible impact of government initiatives on national development.
Expressing appreciation for the honour, Goronyo described the Fellowship as both a recognition of service and a renewed call to greater responsibility, reiterating the importance of ethical and professional communication in governance.
He further reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote professionalism, capacity development, and adherence to global best practices within the public relations sector.
The statement also listed other distinguished Nigerians named as Honorary Fellow-Designates, including the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu; the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa; President of the African Public Relations Association, Mr. Arik Karani; and the Registrar-General of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede.
Others are former TETFund Executive Secretary, Prof. Suleiman Elias Bogoro; traditional ruler and President of Akwanga LGA Traditional Council, HRH Pastor Samson Gamu Yare; Director-General of NBRRI, Prof. Samson Duna; Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Prof. Sa’adatu Hassan Liman; and Director-General of NIPSS, Prof. Ayo Omotayo.
Also honoured are Chief Marcel Anyalechi of DAAR Communications Plc; Prof. Vincent C. Anigbogu; Nigeria Union of Teachers President, Comrade Audu Titus Amba; High Chief Engr. (Dr.) Johnny O. Chukwu; and Prof. Paschal Onyi Oguno.
The Institute noted that the selection of awardees reflects a broad recognition of excellence, integrity, and dedication to advancing communication as a strategic instrument for national growth.
