SENIOR sources within the leadership of the All Progressives Congress have reportedly confirmed the disqualification of four aspirants seeking the party’s House of Representatives ticket for the Baruten–Kaiama Federal Constituency ahead of the forthcoming primary election.
The affected aspirants were identified as Hon. Abdullahi Halidu Danbaba, Hon. Aisha Baba Jalloh, Hon. Ahmad Saidu Baba, and Aliyu Abubakar Ibrahim.
According to highly placed party officials familiar with the screening process, the decisions followed findings that emerged from the verification of nomination documents and other materials submitted by the aspirants during the screening exercise conducted at the APC national headquarters.
Sources within the party disclosed that the issues identified allegedly included inconsistencies in records and documentation, irregularities linked to endorsement signatures and the party dues status of some endorsers, as well as contradictory information reportedly contained in forms and sworn submissions presented during the exercise.
A senior party official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to comment publicly on the matter, said the party remained committed to enforcing its internal regulations and ensuring strict compliance with nomination requirements by all aspirants.
“The screening committee examined all submitted documents thoroughly, and where there were major discrepancies or issues affecting compliance, appropriate decisions were taken in line with party regulations,” the source said.
Although the APC has yet to officially release a statement confirming the outcome of the screening exercise, multiple party insiders insisted that the affected aspirants had already been notified of the decisions reached by the relevant committees.
The development is expected to significantly reshape political calculations ahead of the APC primary election for the Baruten–Kaiama Federal Constituency, as party stakeholders and supporters continue to monitor unfolding events within the ruling party.
Supporters, political observers, and party members across the constituency are now awaiting the official publication of the final list of cleared aspirants by the APC leadership.
