GOMBE State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has approved the appointment of new Chairmen and Directors-General in the State Public Service, alongside several Senior Special Assistants, in a move aimed at strengthening governance and supporting the administration’s economic, political, social and community engagement programmes.
News Point Nigeria reports that the appointments cover key positions in urban planning, economic and social reforms, basic education, educational reforms, political matters, community relations, public communications and women mobilisation.
The appointments were conveyed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, while the announcement was contained in a statement issued by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General, Press Affairs, Government House, Gombe, who also disclosed that Governor Yahaya had approved the names and portfolios of the newly appointed officials.
Under the new appointments, Dr. Kabiru Usman Hassan is to take charge as the Executive Chairman of the Gombe State Urban Planning and Development Agency (GOSUPDA), while Dr. Abdullahi Abubakar Lamido has been appointed Director-General, Economic and Social Reforms Coordination, Governor’s Office.
Also appointed is Professor Hassan Bello as Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), while Dr. Takkani Solomon Jiga will take charge as Director-General, Educational Reforms Coordination, Governor’s Office.
The SSG also announced the Governor’s approval for the appointment of six Senior Special Assistants I assigned to political matters and community engagement.
They are Mohammed Danlami Isah, Timothy S. Labatak, Mahmud Muhammad, popularly known as Wafa, Muhammad Bashir Isa, also known as Sarkin Tafarkin Funakaye, Haruna Jonga and Hon. Adamu Bello, popularly known as Laro.
Under the category of Senior Special Assistants II, the Governor appointed Maikudi Yagana and Manu Dumbati for Political and Community Relations, while Atiku Muhammad, popularly known as Boza Boza, was appointed Special Special Assistant II on Public Communications.
Similarly, Hassan Bappa, known as Sarkin Goro; Yunusa Jiji; Maikudi Sarkin Manja; Muhammad Adamu Muh’d; Arabi Usman; Ibrahim Dahiru; Idris Sani Mohammed; Abdulhadi Haruna Usman; Ahmed Lamido; Philemon Ezra; Barnabas Masfara; Kanadilan Nuhu; and Alfred Bobby were appointed Senior Special Assistants II.
The Governor also approved the appointment of Talatu Adamu, Vasty Saleh, Ladi Alhaji Adamu and Faratu Ahmad Nafada as Senior Special Assistants II on Women Mobilisation.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya expects the newly appointed officials to bring their wealth of experience to bear in their respective assignments and contribute meaningfully to the implementation of government policies.
The Governor also expects them to strengthen coordination across key sectors, enhance community relations and support the administration’s broader reform agenda.
Professor Njodi stated that all the appointments take effect from August 19, 2026.
