‘I See Life Differently Now’, Yunusa Yellow Speaks After Release From Prison

YUNUSA Dahiru popularly known as Yunusa Yellow has stated that he sees life differently now after his release from prison having served a six-year jail term for child trafficking and sexual exploitation of Ese Oruru.

Recall a Federal High Court sitting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State had sentenced Yellow to 26years imprisonment for the offense before the Appellate Court reduced the sentence to six years and the Kano-born trader regained his freedom last Saturday.

In an exclusive interview with News Point Nigeria Thursday, Yunusa said, his travails was an unpleasant experience but that is the will of Allah and he submits totally to whatever the Almighty has destined for him.

“This case has exposed me to many dynamics of life, and I have acquired more knowledge and experience now. I see life differently and all of these have truly shaped my thoughts tremendously.

“I am a completely changed person now. And I have learnt from my mistakes and experiences. I wish to advise those travelling to others parts of the country and other parts of the world, to be very careful. For me, I am not going anywhere now and I don’t wish to go to anywhere.

“Those who know me, know I will never commit such an offense. I am innocent and I never kidnapped or abducted the girl. I will never do anything to hurt any human. I didn’t force her to do anything. Everything she did, she did willingly but I was charged and sentenced for a crime I know nothing about. But everything is history now.

“I wish to thank Allah Almighty for this lesson and experience. I wish to thank my lawyer, Barrister Huwaila Muhammad and her team, for their unrelenting efforts in making sure I get a fair trial and for this freedom. I wish to thank my family and friends and the good people of Kano and the world who have supported me with prayers and sorts”, he added.

While also acknowledging how difficult it is to start all over again, Yunusa stated that he is ready to begin this new chapter in his life. “I am ready for the challenges ahead and I know it won’t be easy”.
